June 10, 2011: Notice in the XXIV Congress of Ancera: AFIBA proposes to establish an "ITV" for workshop equipment
In 2009 there were 95 Spanish workshops in major accidents, ten of them fatal, and most are due to defects in equipment and machinery. To reduce this figure, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers AFib has proposed a system of "ITV" to the machine shop in Spain. This is something that already exists in other European countries more advanced in terms of job security, such as England, Germany and France, where the workshop equipment are reviewed at least twice a year.
On the other hand, Vicente Perez, representative of AFIBA and CEO of Velyen, recalled that the new European standards EN1493, which comes into force on August 5, require manufacturers of the various workshop equipment to meet standards much stricter security than at present. For example, in the case of scissor lifts, they must incorporate stronger arms and a buzzer is turned downwards. "The goal of this legislation is to reduce to zero accidents in the workshop," he said.
